    In November, Dr. Sylvia Corish, School Education Director for the Network 8 group of schools presented a two hour workshop on ‘Getting the Right Job in the Right School’ at the Penshurst RSL for approximately 80 Executive staff from various schools in Sydney Region.

     

    The evaluations of this presentation were extremely positive. The Executive found the information provided to be ‘relevant, useful and practical’. They thought that the topic was ‘well-timed’ with ‘good practical tips’.

     

    The evaluation responses indicate that the Executive would like the first conference for 2008 to be about Student Services Support – ‘What is available to schools for children with needs?’ Therefore, this will be the topic for the Central group’s conference in week 6, term 1, 2008 (4/3/07).


  • Recent Events -South– Term 1, 2009 - Satchel Training

     

    Management of Serious Incidents- Scenario based training presented by DET Safety and Security Directorate was held on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 February 2009 at Grays Point and Bangor Public Schools. The Satchel exercise was developed to support primary school executive staff in managing serious incidents. It is based on the very successful Socrates (Hydra) simulation training exercise conducted for secondary principals in 2004-2006.  The simulation exercise was based on a video scenario of an unfolding incident in a primary school. Participants worked in small groups to hypothetically manage critical incident situations.

     

    Evaluation of the course revealed that 100% of participants rated the course as ‘good’ to ‘excellent’. 97% of participants agreed the course was a worthwhile training and development activity and 94% of participants agreed that they feel more confident in their ability to manage serious incidents after participating in the Satchel Training.

    Recent Events -South– Term 3, 2009 - Dealing with Difficult People

    Dealing With Difficult People was presented by Edwind Birch. Over 70 executives attended and responded very positively to the workshop.

  • 91% of participants responded that the workshop met their expectations.

    100% of participants either agreed (55%) or strongly agreed (45%) that the workshop topic was relevant to their current role.
